comScore, a media measurement and analytics company, has recently revealed that they will now provide mobile viewing metrics to YouTube and others in its Partner Program. According to previous data, which claims that mobile consumption on YouTube rises 100 percent annually, it is no surprise that YouTube has sought out mobile data analytics. comScore, which has previously worked with Hulu, Vevo, and PBS, will be using their Video Metrix technology in order to deliver cross-platform analytics.
These metrics will allow YouTube partners access to viewer data in hopes of improving monetization for their audiences across distribution channels. Such data will measure audience engagement on mobile and desktop. According to recent data from comScore, mobile data is a key component in expanding reach especially for top YouTube channels:
